The War against Fury

The War against Fury
An idea I had while listening to a whole bunch of Brother's Bright, 'Blood on my Name'. Or Ruby Friedman's 'Hunt you Down'. Because, not only am I edgy, but obsessed with that gospel type music.
The overall idea I'd wanted was this ragtag group of people, wronged by a governing or at least extremely powerful religious group, going against said religious group in the sights for vengeance, justice, or simple rage against the new gods.
I had a few ideas in mind, such as perhaps during the Hundred Years War, when witch burning and such was quite the common ordeal. As well as offering a rather easily look-into-able timeframe, with extensive information on armor and weaponry used. Or perhaps during the first or second Crusades on Jerusalem, for that extreme religious orders stuff.
However, I'm not opposed to making an entirely fictional world.
I think it'd be a fun focus, playing as a kind of bandit group. I do plan on having the group snowball into a larger and more dangerous foe, where the religious order has to begin diverting more and more forces to staunch the rebellion.

So basically something similar to Spartacus' rebellion against the Romans? Obviously not the exact same, but that same kind of ragtag group of guerilla warfare loving "bandits"

I wouldn't say all would be 'loving' the violence.
I kind of had a few ideas for characters such as the displaced monk, who sees the religion as no longer true to its roots or simply not following its creed.
Or the Crusader who'd come back to find that the order he fought and bled for burned his family as heretics.
But of course, there would be those there for monetary gain, rebellious fervor, or simple and genuine passion against the religious order.

fantasy crusades? can't really be playing that much with history, after all..
